Abstract: Social entrepreneurship has gained prominence as a transformative approach to solving deep-rooted social and economic challenges, particularly in developing economies. Unlike conventional enterprises, social entrepreneurs prioritize mission-driven goals alongside sustainable business practices. This paper examines how social entrepreneurship can drive inclusive development by embedding low-income communities into the core business processes, thereby promoting participatory economic models. Through a qualitative, case-based methodology, the study analyzes three pioneering Indian social enterprises — SELCO India, Araku Coffee, and Rang De. These cases exemplify how community involvement, hybrid financing, customized services, and robust impact metrics can contribute to scalable, inclusive business models. The findings highlight that social enterprises not only generate measurable social value but also challenge traditional notions of market profitability. Despite facing hurdles like limited access to capital and regulatory complexities, these ventures demonstrate that inclusive, market-based interventions are viable pathways to equitable development. The study concludes by offering strategic recommendations for policymakers, investors, and ecosystem enablers to support and scale such innovative efforts.
