Abstract:
The mining environment is a hazardous place that is normally filled with dangerous gases like methane (CH₄), carbon monoxide (CO), and air pollutants. It is therefore critical to monitor these gases at all times to ensure the safety of workers and prevent accidents. In this paper, a design and implementation of a remote hazardous gas monitoring system using LoRa is presented. The system is designed to monitor environmental conditions at mining sites using a combination of gas sensors like MQ4, MQ7, and MQ135. Arduino is used to connect these sensors and send information wirelessly using LoRa technology. In addition, a GSM module is added to send messages to supervisors if the gases are high. A buzzer is also added to alert workers if the gases are high. The system is a reliable and cost-effective solution that can be used to improve safety at mining sites.
