Abstract—The Smart Placement Guidance System is designed to assist students in improving their placement readiness by analyzing their resumes and identifying skill gaps based on industry requirements. In modern recruitment processes, many companies use Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to automatically screen resumes before they are reviewed by recruiters. Due to a lack of awareness about ATS standards and required job skills, many students fail to pass the initial screening stage. The proposed system allows students to upload their resumes, which are then analyzed to extract important information such as skills, education, and projects. The system compares this information with job descriptions and generates an ATS score indicating the compatibility between the candidate profile and job requirements. It also identifies missing skills and provides recommendations to improve the resume and develop the required competencies. The system is developed using Python with Flask for backend development, MySQL for database management, and HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend interface. By integrating resume analysis, skill gap detection, and placement guidance, the Smart Placement Guidance System helps students enhance their employability and better prepare for campus recruitment processes.
