ABSTRACT
Traditional crop protection methods, such as static physical scarecrows or chemical repellents, are often ineffective as pests like birds and wild animals quickly adapt to them. This project presents an innovative Solar-Powered Automated Scarecrow designed to deter pests through multi-sensory stimuli, including motion, sound, and light The system operates autonomously by harvesting solar energy during the day, which is stored in a rechargeable battery to ensure continuous 24/7 protection. It utilizes sensors such as Passive Infrared (PIR) or microphone modulesto detect the presence of animals in the field. Upon detection, a central microcontroller triggers deterrent mechanisms, which may include Field tests indicate that this system can reduce crop damage by 70–80% while significantly lowering labour costs and eliminating the environmental risks associated with chemical pesticides. This solar-powered solution represents a humane, eco-friendly, and cost-effective advancement in integrated pest management, aligning with global goals for sustainable agricultural practices.
