Abstract

Every day, a lot of food in the world is wasted due to uncollected surplus food at various events and restaurants with enough food to feed all people that are starving but unfortunately don't receive food because there are no proper methods of delivering the surplus food to those in need. This project will create a process to easily and efficiently distribute the surplus food directly to those that need it via a web and mobile application. Donors will enter information about the surplus food including the quantity, address, and time that they will be able to have it picked up. Users will be able to view that information and ultimately choose to either pick up the food or have it delivered by a volunteer. Volunteers will also be accessible through the application to assist with delivering food if necessary. Therefore, the application would be a very easy, straightforward, and effective way to help create a significant decrease in food waste while also creating a means to feed hungry people.
