Abstract:
The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed the modern workforce, emphasizing the need for continuous upskilling to enhance employability and job security. This study examines the impact of AI-based upskilling on employability skills and job security, with special reference to postgraduate students in Coimbatore district. The research focuses on understanding students’ awareness, participation, and effectiveness of AI learning programs in improving their technical and soft skills.
A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from 304 respondents, and various statistical tools such as percentage analysis, one-sample t-test, correlation, chi-square test, and regression analysis were applied for data analysis. The findings reveal that AI-based upskilling significantly improves technical skills, employability, and career confidence among students. Additionally, a significant association was found between AI awareness and learning frequency.
However, the study also indicates that while AI participation has a positive impact, its relationship with employability improvement is relatively weak, suggesting the influence of additional factors. Overall, the study highlights the importance of integrating AI-based learning into higher education to enhance students’ career readiness and align with Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
