Face Recognition Based Smart Attendance System Using Deep Learning

Abstract—In modern educational institutions, attendance tracking plays a vital role in monitoring student participation. Traditional methods such as manual registers and RFID sys- tems are time-consuming, error-prone, and vulnerable to proxy attendance.
This paper presents a Face Recognition Based Smart Atten- dance System that automates attendance marking using deep learning and computer vision techniques. The system captures facial images through a webcam, extracts facial features, and compares them with stored data to identify students. Attendance is recorded automatically with check-in and check-out times- tamps.
The proposed system improves accuracy, reduces manual effort, and enhances security by eliminating proxy attendance. It provides real-time dashboards for both students and faculty, making attendance tracking efficient and reliable.
