ABSTRACT
The adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) marks a pivotal advancement in the rapidly evolving field of cyber security. This study presents a comprehensive literature review on the role, impact, and future prospects of AI across five key domains of cyber security: threat detection, endpoint security, phishing and fraud detection, network security, and adaptive authentication. It explores recent advancements in AI-driven cyber security, emphasizing how these technologies enhance security protocols. The discussion covers state of the art AI methodologies and models including machine learning algorithms, deep learning architectures, natural language processing techniques, and anomaly detection algorithms while underscoring their distinct contributions to strengthening security. Furthermore, essential comparisons of AI models are provided for each domain, outlining their primary applications, advantages, and limitations. The paper also examines evaluation criteria and performance outcomes of AI-based cyber security solutions. In addition, it synthesizes prior research to identify existing gaps and future directions, such as the integration of emerging AI techniques, the enhancement of real time threat detection, and the response to evolving attack vectors. By offering a holistic perspective on the current state and potential of AI in cyber security, this study aims to serve as a foundational reference for researchers and practitioners striving to develop robust and adaptive security solutions.
