Abstract:
This study examines the impact of Artificial Intelligence on performance management practices at RBR Garments in Tiruppur, a government-recognized export house manufacturing knitted garments for global markets. The research adopted a descriptive design with data collected from one hundred twenty employees through structured questionnaires using convenience sampling, analysed through percentage analysis, Chi-square tests, correlation, and ANOVA. The findings reveal that a majority of respondents acknowledged the existence of a performance management system, with a significant proportion strongly agreeing that AI- enhanced performance management effectively increases productivity and contributes to future career growth. A strong positive correlation was established between employee age and satisfaction levels with the appraisal system, while statistical analysis confirmed significant relationships between employee experience and perceived AI effectiveness, as well as between educational qualifications and preferences for performance parameters. The study identified major challenges including limited technical awareness among workers, data privacy concerns, and resistance to technological change. The research concludes that while AI offers substantial benefits in enhancing efficiency, objectivity, and real-time feedback capabilities, successful implementation requires balanced integration with human judgment, comprehensive training programs, gradual adoption strategies, and robust data protection policies. This study provides valuable insights for HR practitioners and organizational leaders in labour-intensive industries seeking to leverage AI for performance optimization while addressing implementation challenges effectively.
