Social media has become a part of our lives. It helps people connect, share information and bring about change. It also causes problems like fake news, loss of privacy and mental health issues. This paper looks at how social media affects our lives and society. It finds that social media has both bad effects.
On the one hand social media helps build communities empowers people economically. Increases civic engagement. On the hand it also causes addiction creates echo chambers and polarizes cultures. This study used a mix of methods including surveys of 500 people from cities interviews with social media influencers and analysis of major social media platforms.
The results show that 78% of respondents say social media has helped them connect with people. However 65% of them also say that social media makes them feel anxious when they compare their lives with others. This shows that social media has both negative effects.
