Abstract - Mental health challenges among teenagers are becoming more common, developing a need for mental health support systems that are easy to access. Major depression is a disabling disorder with symptoms such as feelings of sadness, worthlessness, and losing interest in activities. Many young people experience emotional distress caused by trauma but hesitate to seek professional help because of stigma, high costs, or limited availability of services.
This study introduces a trauma-informed mental health chatbot designed to support young users. Natural language processing (NLP) and emotion detection is used by the Chatbot to respond in a caring and supportive way. The findings suggest that AI-based chatbots can help provide emotional support to many users while still focusing on ethical and user-friendly design.
