ABSTRACT
Electricity theft is one of the major problems faced by power distribution companies worldwide. Unauthorized usage of electrical energy causes significant financial losses and affects the reliability of power distribution systems. To overcome this issue, an IoT-based Electricity Theft Detection System is proposed using STM32 microcontroller technology. The system continuously monitors electrical parameters such as current, voltage, and power through ACS712 current sensors installed at different points of the distribution network. The measured data are compared to identify abnormal variations indicating electricity theft. Whenever theft is detected, the system immediately generates an alert through a GSM module and uploads the data to the IoT cloud platform for remote monitoring. The proposed system provides real-time monitoring, instant notification, and efficient theft detection. This approach can help electricity boards reduce revenue losses and improve power management efficiency.
