Identifying Training Needs and Their Impact on Employee Competence

ABSTRACT
This study was an examination of the effectiveness of training and development in a manufacturing organization with a focus on employees’ perception of program quality, career growth opportunities, supervisory support and impact on job performance. The descriptive design was used and data was collected from 120 employees using the questionnaires and secondary sources. Most employees are satisfied with training, saying it led to better job performance, skill development and career advancement, the findings show. Challenges include time pressure and workload pressure. Statistical analysis shows significant differences of training effectiveness based on educational qualification ANOVA and a strong association between training and perceived career growth Chi-square. The study finds that structured training programs improve employee performance, skill development and organisational growth, highlighting the importance of ongoing investment in workforce development.
