Abstract - Agriculture is a very large segment of Indian economy which in turn has great use for water pump motors in irrigation and growing productivity. But these motors which we see in use at remote and unattended sites like farms, wells and riverbanks are also very much at the risk of theft and unauthorized fiddling. Motor theft reports in high which in turn cause farmers’ large scale financial loss and also put a break on irrigation which in turn plays a role in which we see reduced crop production. To that end this paper brings forth a solution we have designed an Automatic Anti-Theft System for Water Pump Motors in the Agricultural Sector which we have based on the ATmega328P microcontroller. The system we have put together uses a wire loop detection feature and an ADXL345 accelerometer to spot out of place movement, vibration or removal of the motor.
A DS18B20 temperature sensor reports motor temperature which in turn prevents machine from overheating and also improves performance. In the case of theft or at the onset of abnormal activity a GSM module which goes out of way to send out immediate SMS alerts and also makes phone calls to the farmer which in turn enables fast response. Also, we have integrated a GPS module which in real time reports the location of the asset which is very useful in recovery of stolen equipment. We are using solar panel and a rechargeable battery for power which in turn has the effect of continuous operation in remote rural areas. Our put forth solution is low cost, very reliable, energy efficient, and we are targeting small and medium scale farmers, we also provide them with better security, 24/7 monitoring, and in all improved protection of their assets.
