Abstract – Concrete develops cracks due to shrinkage, thermal effects and external loading, which reduces strength and durability. Self-healing concrete is a advanced material that repairs cracks automatically through Microbially Induced Calcium Carbonate Precipitation (MICP). “In this study, Bacillus subtilis bacteria and calcium lactate were added to the “M35 grade concrete mix. Calcium lactate was served as nutrient source for the bacteria. “When the water enters the cracks, the bacteria become active and produce calcium carbonate (CaCo3), which fills and seals the cracks. This process improves the strength, durability, and service life of concrete while reducing maintenance costs.
