 Case Study: Introduction and Organizational Overview

1. Organizational Profile

The Indian Community Welfare Organization (ICWO) is a pioneer, non-governmental organization that has been legally registered and functioning in Tamil Nadu since 1994. Established by Mr. A. J. Hariharan, the organization was built on a foundation of intensive fieldwork in public health services. Over more than two decades, ICWO has evolved into a prominent social service entity with a dedicated team of 90 staff members, many of whom hold Master’s degrees in Social Work or Sociology. The organization is formally governed by an Executive Committee, currently headed by President Mr. Baskar and Founder-Secretary Mr. A. J. Hariharan.

2. Mission and Vision

ICWO is driven by a commitment to social justice and the well-being of the underserved.

• Mission Statement: "To promote best practices in Health, Environment, Education, Technology, and Public Convenience for multiple marginalized people in India".
• Core Objectives: The organization focuses on increasing knowledge about communicable disease prevention, reducing their prevalence among vulnerable groups, and advocating for the basic rights and quality of life for marginalized communities and their children.
