ABSTRACT
This research paper examines the outlook of electronic commerce (e-commerce) and its significant impact on modern business practices. E-commerce in emerging markets refers to the online exchange of goods and services within rapidly developing economies supported by expanding digital infrastructure. Studying e-commerce in emerging markets is important because these regions have experienced remarkable growth driven by expanding internet access, rising disposable incomes, and increasing digital adoption. The study offers insights into reaching global markets, optimizing online business strategies, and sustaining competitive advantage. Key opportunities identified include access to previously untapped consumer segments and growing internet penetration, while mobile commerce — transactions conducted via smartphones — continues to extend the reach of traditional e-commerce. India's e-commerce landscape is diverse and rapidly growing, led by platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Snapdeal, Paytm Mall, Big Basket, and Nykaa. Using a structured survey of 78 respondents in Hyderabad city together with a Chi-Square test of independence, this paper systematically explores the opportunities and challenges faced by e-commerce companies in emerging markets, with specific contextual focus on Myntra and Meesho.
