Abstract
This study examines how smart air conditioners contribute to sustainability at Voltas Limited, focusing on energy efficiency, environmental impact, and customer perception. In the context of rising temperatures, urbanization, and increasing energy demand, the need for sustainable cooling solutions has become essential. The research adopts a descriptive design and uses primary data collected from 153 respondents to understand awareness, usage, and satisfaction related to smart ACs. The findings reveal that most customers are aware of smart features through salespersons and digital platforms, and many believe that smart ACs help reduce electricity consumption. Features such as inverter technology, energy-saving modes, and smart controls play a key role in improving efficiency and lowering costs. Although customers generally show a positive attitude towards sustainability, some remain neutral due to limited awareness and uncertainty about long-term benefits. The study also highlights that Voltas is perceived as a brand committed to green technology and sustainable practices. Statistical tools like Chi-square, Kruskal-Wallis, and Mann–Whitney tests confirm variations in perception based on demographic factors. Overall, the research concludes that smart ACs significantly support sustainability goals while also enhancing customer value, suggesting that increasing awareness, improving communication, and making products more affordable can further strengthen adoption. Additionally, the study indicates that effective usage of smart features is crucial in achieving maximum energy efficiency and environmental benefits, while better product demonstration and user guidance can improve understanding and utilization. It also emphasizes that continuous innovation, strong after-sales service, and transparent communication of cost savings can enhance customer satisfaction and trust, ultimately encouraging wider adoption of sustainable cooling solutions.
