ABSTRACT

This study investigates occupational stress among employees at Solidpro Engineering Support Private Limited, an engineering services company in Tamil Nadu, India. The primary objectives include identifying key stress sources, assessing stress levels, and evaluating the effectiveness of existing stress management strategies. Data were collected from 134 employees using a structured questionnaire, and non-parametric statistical tests — Chi-Square, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis, Friedman, and Spearman Correlation — were employed for analysis after confirming non-normal data distribution. Results reveal that excessive workload (35%), tight deadlines (27%), and lack of managerial support (28%) are the primary stress contributors. No statistically significant difference in stress perception was found between genders (p > 0.01) or across experience levels (p > 0.01). However, significant variation was identified across occupational stress factors of workload, work environment, and job role (Friedman χ² = 28.146, p = 0.000). The study recommends strengthened organizational support, improved communication, workload redistribution, and structured stress management initiatives to enhance employee well-being and organizational performance.
