ABSTRACT:
The increasing environmental concerns, rapid industrialization, and global emphasis on sustainable development have led to an increased awareness of sustainability and employability skills among Generation Z. Sustainability awareness implies students’ awareness of environmental, social, and economic responsibilities, while employability skills encompass various skills that help students succeed in their careers, including those in the logistics industry.
This research aims to identify the level of sustainability awareness and employability skills among Generation Z students in Coimbatore District, in accordance with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals 4: Quality Education and 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. The research was conducted among 310 undergraduate and postgraduate students using a structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale. Statistical tools such as reliability, descriptive, correlation, and regression analysis were employed.
The findings show that sustainability awareness has a positive impact on employability skills, enabling students to succeed in their careers in the logistics industry. The research concludes that incorporating sustainability awareness into education and training enhances career prospects, career relevance, and career progression among Generation Z students.
