ABSTRACT
Internal auditing is an important management function in private sector banks because it strengthens internal controls, supports risk management, improves regulatory compliance, prevents fraud, and enhances operational efficiency. This study examines internal audit procedures in Indian private sector banks with particular attention to employee perceptions. It focuses on internal controls, risk management, regulatory compliance, fraud prevention, operational efficiency, financial reporting, and governance. Primary data were collected from 100 employees through a structured questionnaire using convenience sampling. Percentage analysis was applied to interpret responses. The findings indicate that effective internal auditing contributes positively to financial transparency, organizational accountability, governance, risk management, and sustainable banking performance.
