Abstract
Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) is an essential component of modern healthcare, providing reliable information for disease diagnosis, patient monitoring, therapeutic decisions, and biomedical research. in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) techniques involve the systematic collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation of biological specimens. This review summarizes the implementation and importance of major MLT techniques in clinical diagnosis, pathological investigations, and biomedical research. Key areas include clinical pathology, hematology, clinical biochemistry, microbiology, histopathology, cytology, immunological testing, and molecular diagnostics. Conventional techniques such as microscopy, staining, culture, biochemical assays, and tissue examination remain fundamental, while automation, molecular technologies, digital pathology, laboratory information systems, and artificial intelligence are expanding laboratory capabilities. The review also highlights the importance of appropriate specimen handling, quality assurance, internal and external quality control, biosafety, standardized operating procedures, documentation, and continuous professional training. Effective implementation of these techniques improves diagnostic accuracy, reproducibility, laboratory efficiency, turnaround time, and patient safety. The integration of skilled laboratory professionals with advanced technologies and robust quality-management systems will further strengthen the role of MLT in modern healthcare and biomedical research.
