Abstract: Academic libraries are experiencing a paradigm shift fuelled by Artificial Intelligence (AI), transforming them into adaptive, efficient, and inclusive knowledge hubs. This paper explores the integration of AI technologies in academic libraries with a focus on enhancing sustainability across environmental, economic, and social dimensions. From intelligent cataloguing to personalized user experiences and predictive analytics, AI applications are reshaping service delivery while promoting the broader goals of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The study examines global case studies and highlights key challenges such as ethical considerations, algorithmic bias, and the digital skill gap. A strategic roadmap is proposed to facilitate responsible and equitable AI adoption. The findings emphasize that AI, when implemented ethically and inclusively, can redefine the mission of academic libraries in the 21st century.
