Abstract - Mental health has become a critical area of concern worldwide, with increasing demand for accessible and affordable psychological support. However, barriers such as stigma, lack of resources, and limited availability of trained professionals often prevent individuals from seeking timely help. To address these challenges, this project proposes the design and development of an AI-powered mental health care support chatbot. The chatbot leverages Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques to engage in empathetic conversations, provide initial emotional support, and deliver evidence-based coping strategies. It can identify stress, anxiety, or depressive tendencies through sentiment and intent analysis, and suggest personalized self-help resources, relaxation techniques, or referral to professional services when necessary. The system is designed to operate 24/7, ensuring immediate assistance and reducing the burden on mental health professionals by acting as a first line of support. Furthermore, it ensures data privacy, ethical compliance, and user confidentiality while maintaining a supportive, non-judgmental environment. This approach has the potential to bridge the gap between mental health needs and service availability, especially in underserved and remote areas. The proposed chatbot demonstrates how AI-driven digital interventions can complement traditional healthcare, making mental health support more scalable, accessible, and cost-effective.
