Abstract - Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a transformative technology in modern manufacturing by enhancing productivity, improving product quality, and enabling intelligent decision-making. Smart manufacturing integrates AI techniques such as machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, and predictive analytics to optimize production processes and reduce operational costs. This review paper presents a comprehensive overview of recent AI applications in smart manufacturing, with particular emphasis on predictive maintenance, automated quality inspection, and CNC process optimization. The paper discusses commonly used AI techniques, their industrial applications, key benefits, implementation challenges, and future research opportunities. Recent studies indicate that AI-driven manufacturing systems significantly improve equipment reliability, production efficiency, and process optimization while supporting the transition toward Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0. This review provides researchers, engineers, and manufacturing professionals with a consolidated understanding of current developments and future directions in AI-enabled smart manufacturing.
