1.1    Overview of AI in Human Resource Management (HRM)

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the way organizations manage their human resources, reshaping traditional HR functions into more strategic, data-driven processes. In today’s digital economy, businesses are increasingly adopting AI-powered tools to streamline recruitment, enhance employee engagement, improve decision-making, and optimize workforce planning. From resume screening and chatbots for candidate interaction to predictive analytics for performance management, AI is enabling HR professionals to move beyond administrative tasks and focus on strategic roles that add value to organizational growth.

One of the most significant impacts of AI in Human Resource Management (HRM) is the automation of routine and repetitive tasks. This not only increases efficiency but also reduces human bias in processes such as hiring and performance evaluation. AI-driven systems can analyze vast amounts of data to identify suitable candidates, forecast employee turnover, and personalize learning and development programs. As a result, HR professionals are evolving into strategic partners who leverage technology to make informed decisions and foster a more productive work environment.

Simultaneously, the rise of the gig economy has introduced new challenges and opportunities for HRM. Gig workers—freelancers, independent contractors, and temporary employees—are becoming a vital part of the modern workforce. Managing this flexible and diverse workforce requires innovative approaches, and AI plays a crucial role in addressing these needs. AI tools help organizations efficiently match gig workers with tasks, monitor performance, ensure compliance, and maintain engagement despite the lack of traditional employment structures.
