ABSTRACT
The study titled “Assessing the Awareness and Attitude of Rural Youth Towards Government Development Initiatives: A Case of Chanho Village, Jharkhand” examines the extent of awareness, perception, and participation of rural youth in key rural development programmes. Employing a descriptive and analytical research design, data were collected from 100 respondents aged 18–35 years through a structured questionnaire and interviews. Statistical tools such as mean score, percentage analysis, Chi-square test, and correlation were used to interpret the findings. Results revealed a moderate level of awareness among youth regarding major schemes like MGNREGA, NRLM, PMEGP, PMGSY, and Skill India, with positive attitudes observed towards their objectives but skepticism over implementation and transparency. Education, media exposure, and income emerged as significant determinants of awareness and participation. The study highlights the need for improved communication strategies, skill-oriented interventions, and youth engagement mechanisms to enhance the effectiveness of rural development initiatives in Jharkhand.
