ABSTRACT
The increasing adoption of cashless payment services has significantly transformed the way consumers conduct financial transactions and manage their personal finances. Digital payment methods such as Unified Payments Interface (UPI), mobile wallets, debit cards, credit cards, and internet banking have enhanced the convenience, speed, and accessibility of payments while reducing dependence on cash. This study examines the effect of cashless payment services on consumer spending patterns and financial management practices. It explores how the growing use of digital payment systems influences purchasing behaviour, budgeting, savings, expense control, and overall financial decision-making. Although cashless payment services offer several benefits by providing secure transactions, transaction history, and expense-tracking features, concerns related to impulsive spending, cybersecurity, privacy, and financial discipline continue to influence consumer behaviour. This review highlights the role of cashless payment services in shaping spending habits and improving financial management while emphasizing the importance of financial literacy and responsible use of digital payment technologies. The findings are expected to provide valuable insights for consumers, financial institutions, fintech companies, policymakers, and researchers in promoting responsible digital payment practices, strengthening financial awareness, and support the development of a sustainable cashless payment ecosystem.
