Abstract
By substituting a complicated system of many indirect taxes with a single tax structure, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) launch caused a transforming change in India's taxation scene. Although GST has simplified indirect taxation for both companies and individuals, its influence on students' knowledge of and awareness of taxation remains a little researched field. Students have a major part in determining a financially responsible society as future professionals, taxpayers, and entrepreneurs. Still, not much study has been done on how effectively this population understands GST ideas and their real-world effects.
The degree of GST and taxation awareness among Amity University, Chhattisgarh students is sought in this study. A structured questionnaire given to 60 participants spanning many academic fields helped to gather data. The study examines students' knowledge, beliefs, and exposure to GST using extracurricular activities, academic teaching, other informational channels. Although a majority of students show moderate to high degrees of general awareness, the results show that their grasp of technical words, taxation procedures, and actual GST applications lags noticeably.
Integrating taxation issues into the regular curriculum and employing engaging, practical learning techniques will help to improve financial literacy among students, therefore fostering long-term tax compliance, informed financial decision-making, and more civic participation.
Keywords: GST, taxation, students, awareness, financial literacy.
