ABSTRACT
Employee emotions are increasingly recognized as a central determinant of workplace well-being, organizational commitment, and performance. This study investigates the nature and impact of employee emotions on overall well-being among workers at Myunghwa Automotive India Private Limited, an automotive components manufacturer located in Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu. A descriptive research design was employed, and primary data were collected from 143 male employees through a structured questionnaire. Statistical analyses including percentage analysis, Chi-square test, ANOVA, Kruskal–Wallis H test, and Spearman's rank correlation were applied to interpret the findings. The results reveal that leadership style, manager communication, and organizational mental health programs exert significant positive effects on employee emotional well-being. A strong majority of respondents indicated that positive emotions improve productivity (72.6%) and contribute to overall well-being (89%). Spearman's correlation analysis demonstrated a moderate positive relationship (r = 0.551, p < 0.01) between leadership and well-being and employee retention, while the Kruskal–Wallis’s test identified significant income-based differences in retention (p = 0.003). The study concludes that emotionally supportive leadership, accessible mental health initiatives, and a positive organizational culture are pivotal in enhancing employee well-being. The findings carry practical implications for HR managers and organizational leaders aiming to build emotionally healthy, high-retention workplaces.
