Abstract - The increasing generation of plastic waste has become a major environmental concern due to its non-biodegradable nature. This project aims to explore the sustainable reuse of plastic waste in geotechnical engineering applications by studying its effect on the engineering properties of different types of soils. Plastic strips, cut from waste plastic materials, are added in small proportions to three soil types — sandy soil, black cotton soil, and Murum. Laboratory tests such as Specific Gravity, Grain Size Analysis, Index Properties, Standard Proctor Compaction, California Bearing Ratio (CBR), and Direct Shear Test are conducted on both untreated and plastic-treated soil samples. The results are compared to assess improvements in strength, density, and stability. The study concludes that the inclusion of plastic waste can enhance the strength and load-bearing capacity of soil, making it a potential sustainable approach for soil stabilization and reuse of plastic waste in civil engineering.

Key Words:  Plastic waste, Soil stabilization, Strength improvement, Environmental sustainability
