ABSTRACT
The adoption of Green Human Resource Management (Green HRM) in organizations has been caused by the demand for sustainable practices and environmental concerns, especially in emerging sectors such as e-commerce. This research examines the impact of Green HRM on eco-consciousness among employees working in e-commerce firms. The main aim of the analysis is to examine the influence of practices, such as green recruitment, training and development, performance management, and incentives on employees' eco-conscious behaviour in the workplace. This study will identify the level at which green HRM is practiced as well as the effect of awareness of sustainability among employees on their eco-consciousness.
The research uses primary data obtained from 100 employees working for various e-commerce organizations located in Bangalore. Questionnaires were used to get answers concerning Green HRM policies and employee attitudes. Findings indicate that when firms engage in Green HRM practices, there tends to be a positive effect on the environmentally friendly behaviour of their employees. Awareness levels and sustainable behaviours such as conserving energy, minimizing waste, and participation in environmental activities were seen to be positively influenced through training initiatives.
Also, the paper reveals that environmentally conscious and motivated staff members are likely to participate in environmentally friendly behaviours during their employment periods. The findings clearly reveal that the concept of Green HRM is both a policy strategy and a behaviour factor that helps develop sustainable cultures within organizations.
This study adds to the existing literature on sustainable HR practices and offers useful information on how e-commerce firms can adopt sustainable practices through proper human resource management.
