Abstract
The transportation sector is one of the largest contributors to global greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution due to the extensive use of diesel and petrol vehicles. The transition from conventional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles to Electric Vehicles (EVs) has emerged as a promising strategy for achieving sustainable development and promoting green energy solutions. Electric vehicles offer significant environmental benefits through reduced carbon emissions, improved energy efficiency, and lower dependence on fossil fuels. This study examines the environmental, economic, and social impacts of replacing conventional diesel and petrol vehicles with electric vehicles. It also explores the challenges associated with EV adoption and highlights policy measures required to accelerate the transition toward sustainable transportation systems.
