Abstract - Social media has become an inseparable part of students’ daily lives and plays a significant role in communication, information sharing, and learning activities. College students use social networking platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and X (Twitter) for both academic and non-academic purposes. While these platforms provide opportunities for knowledge sharing and collaborative learning, excessive use may negatively influence study habits and academic performance. This study examines the impact of social media on the study habits and academic performance of college students. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire from different college students. The findings reveal that social media offers educational benefits when used appropriately; however, excessive usage results in distraction, procrastination, poor time management, and reduced academic performance. The study recommends balanced and responsible use of social media for academic success.
