Abstract - Railway transportation is one of the most important modes of mass transportation worldwide, and the safety of railway operations depends on the condition ofrailway tracks. Track cracks and rail fractures are major causes of train derailments and accidents. This paper presents the design and implementation of an IoT-based railway track crack detection system using the ESP8266 NodeMCU microcontroller. Infrared (IR) sensors mounted on a motorized trolley continuously monitor the railway track for cracks.When a crack is detected, the system activates a buzzer, red LED, and displays a warning message on a 16×2 LCD.Simultaneously, a real-time alert notification is sent to a mobile device through the Cayenne IoT platform. The system is compact, low-cost, and suitable for rural railway track monitoring applications.Key Words: IoT, Railway Track Monitoring, Crack Detection,ESP8266, IR Sensor, Railway Safety, Remote Alert System.
