ABSTRACT:
Smart home technologies based on the Internet of Things (IoT) have transformed modern living by enabling remote monitoring, automation, and intelligent control of household devices. Smart homes integrate various connected devices such as sensors, cameras, lighting systems, thermostats, and smart appliances that communicate with each other through wireless networks. While these technologies provide convenience and efficiency, they also introduce serious security and privacy concerns. Many IoT devices collect sensitive information including user behavior patterns, location data, and device activity logs. If these devices are not properly secured, attackers may gain unauthorized access to the home network and compromise personal data. This research paper analyzes the security challenges associated with IoT-based smart home systems and evaluates existing solutions to enhance network security. The study examines smart home architectures, wireless communication technologies, and real-world cyberattack scenarios to identify vulnerabilities. It also discusses the importance of secure communication
protocols, encryption techniques, authentication mechanisms, and network monitoring systems. The findings highlight the need for stronger security frameworks and collaboration between device manufacturers, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and regulatory authorities to ensure secure and reliable smart home environments.
