Abstract
Micro Finance is growing as a powerful instrument for women entrepreneurship development in the new economy. A significant number of microfinance programs have established a stated objective of empowering women. Additionally, more and more microfinance institutions (MFIs) favor hiring women as members because they view them as more trustworthy and responsible. This current study examined the role of microfinance in women entrepreneurship development at Pipal Bot Sahakari Sanstha Birendranagar-4, Surkhet. Three specific objectives guided this study. Firstly, to study the impact of operational aspects of microfinance on women empowerment, secondly to study the impact of individual aspects of microfinance on women empowerment and to study the impact of family aspects of microfinance on women empowerment. The study adopted descriptive research design, employing both quantitative and qualitative approach in form of survey, with data being gathered via self- administered questionnaires and interview. The study area was Birendranagar 4 surkhet valley. Women who were involved in microfinance program of Pipal Bot Sahakari Sanstha in the study area were the population of the study. Among 200 populations, 50 were selected as sample by using convenient sampling method. Microfinance is an ambitious programme as it attempts to address one of the most challenging problems which this country faces. The present study is quite contextual in the sense that it focuses on two vital issues these are microfinance and women empowerment. One is the tool and other is the target to achieve. In other words Microfinance aims at not only removing poverty in general but also empowering women through helping her come out of poverty in particularly.
