Sericulture Activities in Silk Handlooms of Chhattisgarh State

Abstract - Chhattisgarh state is much famous for producing silk all over the world. Process of manufacturing silk by raising of silk worm is known as sericulture. These sericulture activities performed in silk handloom industries of Chhattisgarh. The study involves observation and survey method and it is descriptive in nature. The study is conducted to determine the production rate of varied cocoons with number of beneficiaries/labourers involved in it. Progress in the rate of cocoon production during years 2011-12 to 2013-14 is assessed. It is revealed that natural tussar coccon production is gradually increasing in given years. Reared tussar cocoon production is slightly decreased in year 2012-13 while it gained production in year 2013-14.
