Abstract
The Yanadi tribe is one of the most marginalized tribal community in Andhra Pradesh, with a significant population residing in Chandragiri mandal. This study examines the socio-economics conditions of the yanadi households in Chandragiri mandal, focusing on key aspects such as education occupation, income, housing health, and access to Government welfare schemes.
Traditionally, the yanadis depended on forest-based livelihood such as hunting, fishing, and collection of minor forest produce. However, due to changes in environmental conditions, and socio-economic transformations, many Yanadi families have shifted to agricultural labour, daily wage work and other informal sector activities. Despite these changes, their income levels remain low and unstable and economic insecurity.
The analysis reveals that literacy levels among Yanadis in Chandragiri Mandal are gradually improving due to the availability of Government schools and welfare programs. However dropout rates Schools remain high due to there poverty lack of awareness and the need for children to support family income. Housing and sanitation facilities are inadequate in many Yanadi settlements, contributing to health-related issues such as malnutrition and communicable diseases.
