Abstract: Lozenges are solid forms of medication designed to dissolve or break down gradually in the mouth. They comprise one or more active substances and are flavoured and sweetened to ensure a pleasant taste. Typically, they are utilized for their local effects but may also contain components that induce a systemic effect. Throat infections are among the most prevalent ailments in today’s society. A persistent sore throat can lead to serious issues such as pharyngitis. Common respiratory infections like the cold and flu result in symptoms including headache, fever, runny nose, nasal congestion, and coughing. These lozenges, which are based on a poly-herbal extract, have demonstrated their quality. The lozenges made from the poly-herbal extract contain Zingiber officinale Roscoe, Justicia adhatoda, Rosa rubiginosa, Punica granatum, Psidium guajava, and Piper longum and are designed to alleviate cough and soothe a sore throat. A sore throat refers to discomfort, scratchiness, or irritation in the throat that often intensifies when swallowing. The most prevalent cause of a sore throat (pharyngitis) is a viral infection, such as the common cold or influenza. A sore throat caused by a virus typically resolves on its own. The juices extracted from fresh leaves of all the ingredients are utilized to create polyherbal lozenges. While many herbal and allopathic medicines exist, they do not suffice to address all symptoms with a single formulation. The polyherbal lozenges were assessed for their physicochemical properties, including weight variation, thickness, hardness, moisture content, friability, disintegration time, and diameter. The results indicated that all physicochemical parameters for the lozenges fell within the standards set forth in the GMP Guidelines. These polyherbal lozenges could serve as a beneficial, affordable, and readily accessible option for treating minor throat infections. [1]
